PHOENIX  In June, Phoenix-based Fresh Cravings launched 17-ounce family-sized hummus containers at Walmart for consumer convenience.

"Our hope is that this new, larger size will make it easier for families to 'Crave Goodness,' and enjoy more of Fresh Cravings' most beloved hummus flavors, together," said Jay Whitney, chief marketing officer at FoodStory Brands.

In July, Fresh Cravings launched a line of creamy, dairy-based dips and added new salsa flavors to its current line.

The two creamy dip flavors are Kale Artichoke and Poblano Street Corn, and the new salsa flavors are Triple Pepper (perfect for delis highlighting different spice levels in their salsas) and Peach Mango.

“We are excited to add these four new items into Fresh Cravings' family of products,” Whitney said. “In addition to the distinctive flavors these new products provide, our expansion into dairy-based dips reflects our commitment to provide snack-lovers with thoughtfully curated recipes and affordably priced products."

In October, Fresh Cravings added new hummus flavors to its portfolio. They are Jalapeño Cilantro, Lemon Garlic and Mediterranean.

The new flavors are being added to the line that already includes a variety of unique flavors like Honey Jalapeño, Everything Bagel, Roasted Red Pepper, Roasted Garlic, Spicy Red Pepper and Classic.

"Our team's driving force is to find ways to deliver surprise and delight to our customers and to invite them to embrace new innovations and unexpected flavors,” Whitney said. "We are proud to bring these three new flavors forward, always with the goal of offering elevated fresh snacking options, made with high-quality ingredients, to consumers across the country."

Also in October, Fresh Cravings launched a promotion called “Dips & Sips Wine Wednesday.”

The company partnered with Sarah Tracey, sommelier and founder of New York-based The Lush Life, to create videos on Instagram showcasing wine and other food pairings with Fresh Cravings products with the hashtag #SipWithUs. Shopping lists were posted for consumers a few days before the videos were released so that consumers could follow along at home.

The four different videos featured the following seasonal themes:

  • Oct. 12: On Wednesdays We Drink Pink — Appetizers to pair with Rosé — no longer just a 'Summer Water' wine
  • Oct. 26: Wine & Spooky Charcuterie — Halloween-themed dip pairings with spooky decor
  • Nov. 9: Dips, Sips & Literature — Book picks for a cozy winter day, to accompany your drink and dip pairings, and recipes to elevate your book club gatherings
  • Dec 7: Progressive Pairings with Red and White Wines for the Holiday Season — How to mix both types of varietals with snacks for various types of holiday parties

"Dips & Sips is our way of showing our customers unique ways to integrate Fresh Cravings into any occasion, whether snacking at home or gathering with friends and family," Whitney said. "Sommelier Sarah Tracey brings the credibility and brilliant pairings to help us transform your 'wine and cheese' night in to 'Dips & Sips' night."

This marketing campaign is a great example of cross-merchandising opportunities for retailers and how instore delis can be creative with product displays and how they communicate messages to consumers.
