As greenhouse vegetable acreage continues to expand, producers are adding brand new products and variations on old ones to keep up with retail demand for tomatoes, peppers and other vegetables whose quality and volumes are guaranteed year-round.

One new produce NatureSweet is particularly bullish on is its Constellation Seedless Mini Sweet Pepper, which John Cameron, the company’s vice president of channels for greenhouse vegetables, said deliver significantly better flavor and increased snackability compared to the standard mini sweets on the market today.

“Innovation in this segment was long overdue,” Cameron said. “We’re shipping now and prebooking the next cycle for spring.”

NatureSweet’s Crunchy Delights One Bite Cucumbers, meanwhile, began shipping in late fall.

The crunchy, flavorful cukes are on trend and deliver a cool, crisp snack, with a superior flavor profile, Cameron said.

“Consumer data has shown that the growth in the cucumber category is driven by snacking cucumbers and our Crunchy Delights deliver the results.”

Also shipping now from NatureSweet is what Cameron calls “arguably one of the best heirloom varieties to hit the planet.”

The ADORA tomato delivers an incredible flavor profile, which Cameron said is not common in a larger slicing tomato.

Winning best taste awards in Europe several years running, ADORA delivers a homegrown, backyard flavor tomato lovers crave.

“The ADORA is an absolute game changer and will transform the large tomato segment,” Cameron said.

New in 2024 for NatureSweet are One Bite Seedless Mini Sweet Peppers. The bite sized snacking peppers deliver incredible flavor and convenience to the consumer, Cameron said.

“Though mini sweet peppers have been used for snacks for decades, varieties that deliver significantly better flavor without the seeds will drive new growth in the segment.”
