REDWOOD CITY, CALIF. — Impossible Foods has launched a new version of its flagship Impossible Beef product, Impossible Beef Lite.

The leaner variation contains 21 grams of protein and offers a flavorful, high-protein meat alternative for dishes like tacos, chili, stir-frys or soups. Impossible Beef Lite also contains zero trans fat or cholesterol, in addition to 75% less saturated fat and 45% less total fat than its conventional beef counterpart.

“We’re constantly working to compete with beef in all of the ways that matter to consumers, including nutrition,” said Peter McGuinness, president and chief executive officer of Impossible. “A lot of health-conscious fans and shoppers are looking for a plant-based beef option that’s high in protein and nutrients with even less fat, and Impossible Beef Lite is our solution to that. It’s a perfect plant-based way to customize all of the great recipes that call for lean animal ground beef.”

Impossible’s lean formulation is the company’s fourth product launch in 2023, adding plant-based chicken tenders, spicy chicken nuggets and spicy chicken patties in February. Consumers are now able to find Impossible Beef Lite in select retailers, and the company expects a nationwide rollout in the upcoming weeks.
