CHICAGO — True Made Foods, a brand of condiments formulated with fruits and vegetables, was named the winner of the inaugural NIQ Founders Pitch Slam competition. The event was presented by NIQ (formerly NielsenIQ), a provider of data and analytics solutions, at its C360 conference in Los Angeles.
Applicants presented to a series of judges and were evaluated based on brand story and mission, product innovation, financial and growth potential and alignment to consumer needs and trends. Twenty semifinalists received access to data experts and participated in a virtual pitch. The judging panel selected five finalists, which included Dokkaebier, an Asian-inspired craft brewery; Lemongrass Farms, a natural insect repellent; Root & Splendor, a line of plant-based home and body products; and lil’gourmets, an organic baby food brand.

Founded in 2015, True Made Foods, Alexandria, Va., offers a line of low- or no-sugar ketchups, mustards, barbecue sauces and hot sauces sweetened with ingredients such as butternut squash, carrots and apples. The business was awarded a grand prize exceeding $500,000 in cash and in-kind services.
