Makers of mixer-grinders used in grocery retail meat departments continue to evolve to meet demand for safer, more ergonomically correct equipment that helps clients save labor and meet food safety standards.

Hobart Food Equipment’s MG1532 and MG2032 mixer-grinders are popular choices for the production of ground meats and sausages for the grocer meat case, said Megan Gray, Hobart product line manager.

The MG1532 has a 150-pound capacity and the MG2032 has a 200-pound capacity, making both ideal for higher production mixing and grinding, Gray said.

And both machines thoroughly mix and grind meat without mashing it.

“Hobart mixer-grinders can be used anywhere meat grinding and mixing operations take place, whether in a grocery meat department or a butcher shop,” Gray said.

One of the features that retailers seem to like about the Hobart MG1532 and MG2032 mixer-grinders, she said, is the easy-access hopper, which is ergonomic and makes loading and unloading product faster and easier for the operator.

The hopper is at the perfect height, so it doesn’t require the operator to lift product up too high.

Along with the ergonomic hopper, the Hobart MG1532 and MG2032 mixer-grinders have long-lasting Stay-Sharp knives and plates.

The knives’ alloy steel construction, Gray said, holds an edge longer than other brands and the operator can re-sharpen them multiple times.

Hobart also offers a variety of plates to gain the desired texture and consistency. The MG2032 mixer-grinder features a double wall construction and ships standard with a pneumatic foot control that simplifies operation.

Both mixer grinders have smooth weld seams to reduce the opportunity of meat scraps settling and causing foodborne bacteria; this feature also expedites cleaning. The mixer-grinders feature a removable mix arm, auger and seals for complete sanitation.

Both Hobart mixer-grinders, Gray said, “help improve productivity and maximize labor since they eliminate the need to mix and grind separately. They’re ideal for mixing and grinding meat for sausages and meatballs, as well as hamburger and other grocery meat department offerings.”
