LEBANON, PA. — As of June 21, Godshall’s Quality Meats is the official Guinness World Records title holder for the longest piece of turkey bacon, with its bacon slice stretching over 17 feet long and 23 inches wide. The slice was over 1,000 times larger than a typical piece of turkey bacon.

The world record was broken at Godshall’s Lebanon, Pa., facility during National Turkey Lovers Month.

“As one of the leading turkey bacon brands, what could we do to continue building awareness for our brand? Go big!” said Ron Godshall, president of Godshall’s Quality Meats. “And it was only right to attempt a world record of this size on the longest day of the year during National Turkey Lovers month to kick off summer. We’ve been preparing for several weeks making sure our team members and facility had everything needed to produce the world record setting slice of Turkey Bacon, and we're thrilled to now be the official title holders.”

To ensure that all criteria was met for Godshall’s to obtain the world record, a Guinness World Records official surveyor and adjudicator visited the Lebanon plant.

Godshall’s noted that the production of the piece of bacon required the help of over two dozen employees. It was wood smoked in a 25-foot-by-10-foot oven for more than six hours.

In celebration of the team’s effort, hundreds of Godshall’s employees and local leaders gathered to each enjoy a slice of the massive piece of bacon in a BLT luncheon. Godshall’s packaged up the leftover bacon for employees and a local food bank.

The company announced it was expanding its product line to include sausage products earlier this year.
