OAKWOOD, GA. — Poultry processor Wayne-Sanderson Farms confirmed that its Moultrie, Ga., processing facility would not operate its second or third shift on Nov. 10 due to inclement weather in the area stemming from Tropical Storm Nicole.

The company said employees who worked on the third shift in sanitation should report to work at the normally scheduled time.

Wayne-Sanderson said the facility would resume normal operations on Nov. 11 and the first shift will operate on Nov. 12.

The newly named poultry company was created in July following Cargill and Continental Grain Co. acquiring Sanderson Farms Inc. for $4.5 billion. The companies formed a private poultry business by merging Sanderson with Continental Grain’s subsidiary Wayne Farms.
