ROSEMONT, ILL. – In its 2021 Corporate Responsibility Report (CSR) published April 14, US Foods Holding Corp. provided updates on strides made related to the company’s sustainable product rollouts, employee and community support and reducing its environmental impact. This was the fourth annual CSR published by the foodservice and retail distribution company, which serves 300,000 customer locations in the United States.

Highlighting its sustainable product offerings, US Foods reported the expansion of those products under its Serve Good and Progress Check programs as part of its Exclusive Brands portfolio, to include more than 1,000 products. This represented a six-fold increase compared to the previous year. As part of its investment in people, the company nearly achieved its goal of filling 40% of available leadership roles with women and people of color as part of a hiring process designed to facilitate employing a more diverse workforce. The company hired women and people of color to fill 39% of its new and open leadership positions, 1% shy of its goal. US Foods succeeded in reducing its environmental footprint in 2021 by committing to increase the fleet of natural gas-powered delivery trucks by 26 vehicles as well as adding 15 electric trucks.

In a year when all food companies were faced with the unprecedented impact of a global pandemic, Pietro Satriano, US Foods chairman and chief executive officer, said the company made positive strides in achieving its goals.

“While we faced many challenges in 2020, our associates and customers demonstrated a resilience and determination that inspired us all,” Satriano said in the CSR’s message to stakeholders. “We look to the future with optimism and a continued commitment to the important work of corporate social responsibility.”

Other highlights of the 2021 report included:

 • Continued to grow the number of products across its local, sustainable and well-being offerings, with a total of more than 2,300 differentiated products available today.

• Continued to uphold the company’s sustainable seafood goal, with 100% of the company’s Harbor Banks brand meeting US Foods Serve Good or Progress Check program standards.

• Enhanced its diversity and inclusion commitments by signing the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion pledge, expanding the Employee Resource Group program, and increasing the company’s workforce and leadership diversity through development programs and improved hiring strategies.

• Awarded more than $1 million in scholarships to more than 50 students since 2017.

• Donated more than $20 million in food and supplies to US food banks across the country.

• Reduced its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions intensity by 15% since 2015.

• Reduced gallons of fuel used per case delivered by 10.9% since 2015.

• Continued construction of two LEED-certified distribution centers and committed to enhancements to solar arrays at select distribution centers to be completed in 2022.

• Announced commitment to convert all California broadline distribution centers’ on-site fueling to 100% renewable diesel fuel by mid-2022 and converting Texas-based compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks to renewable natural gas fuel in 2022.
