Homegrown Family Foods LLC has purchased two flour, breading and coatings brands from Hodgson Mill.

Newton, North Carolina-based Homegrown bought the Kentucky Kernel and Don’s Chuck Wagon brands. Kentucky Kernel celebrates Southern cooking traditions with its blend of 10 herbs and spices. Don’s Chuck Wagon is known for its homestyle seasoned batters and coating mixes.

Homegrown intends to sell all of the well-known Kentucky Kernel and Don’s products and will also branch out into new products.

“We are excited to acquire these brands as they are a perfect complement to the products we currently manufacture,” says Tommy Lynn, CEO of Newton-based Renwood Mills, one of two owners of Homegrown.
