SAN FRANCISCO — Instore bakery supplier Sweet Sam’s is adding a new item to its line of packaged pound cakes.
The New York-based company expects to have individually wrapped Cinnamon Streusel cakes on grocer’s shelves in “the next couple of months,” Matthew Pinkett, account executive, said Jan. 22 at the Specialty Food Association’s Winter Fancy Food Show, where Sweet Sam’s was showcasing its pound cakes.
“It’s a great flavor, and pound cake is our best line,” Pinkett said of the decision to add Cinnamon Streusel to the product mix. Sweet Sam’s markets its pound cakes in pre-sliced bulk (16 slices per case), quarter loaf (4 per case) and individually wrapped (12 per case) formats.
Cinnamon Streusel will be the 11th flavor in the permanent mix offered by Sweet Sam’s. The company also ships seasonal flavors. Lemon and Classic (crumb cake) are among the top sellers in the category, Pinkett says.
