Hy-Vee, with nearly 250 locations throughout the Midwest, has announced plans for a $29 million central kitchen and e-commerce fulfillment center in Kansas City, MO.
The facility will occupy nearly 140,000 square feet and will serve Hy-Vee locations in the Kansas City region. The fulfillment center will support the Hy-Vee Aisles Online deliver program while the central kitchen will produce prepared foods for area stores.
According to the Kansas City Star, the facility will create around 130 jobs immediately and more than 200 eventually. Hy-Vee expects to invest $15.5 million in machinery and equipment and $13.5 million in real estate and tenant finishes.
As part of the Three Trails Industrial Park, Hy-Vee is receiving a 50 percent personal property tax abatement for 10 years.
