LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ.  — iTi Tropicals has formulated a puree and concentrate from acerola fruit. Acerola fruit is commonly referred to as the Barbados cherry or West-Indian cherry and provides a source of vitamin C.

Acerola may replace added ascorbic and or citric acid and may also reduce pH, according to the company. It may also extend shelf life and provide a tart flavor.


Acerola puree and concentrate may be used in a variety of applications including jams, jellies, health shots, smoothies, juice blends, gummies, fruit snacks, fruit leathers, sorbets, frozen novelties, sauces, marinades, and dressings.
