IMMOKALEE, FLA. — As Lipman Family Farms prepares to expand its watermelon distribution on the East Coast, the company has named Doug Miller as its new head of watermelon sales.

Miller previously worked in the sales department at Lipman for 11 years, beginning with the company in 2001 as a scout in Florida. In 2016, he founded watermelon grower and distributor Legacy Produce. According to Lipman, that step in Miller’s career confirmed his status as a trailblazer in the watermelon industry.

Miller will now lead Lipman’s watermelon expansion, which will allow the company to offer watermelons to its network year-round.

“Starting with the fall crop in South Carolina, then kicking off production in Florida during the winter and spring seasons, Lipman will offer consistent supply of fresh watermelon,” the company said.

"I am honored to lead Lipman's watermelon sales team and contribute to our mission of providing reliable produce to our valued customers,” Miller said. “With our expansion plans, we are not only enhancing our offerings but also ensuring that our customers receive the best service in the industry.”

"We are confident that Doug Miller's extensive experience and dedication to the industry will help us achieve new heights in our watermelon sales,” said Bo Bates, Lipman's president of farming. “This appointment is a testament to our ongoing commitment to delivering quality produce and strengthening our relationships with customers and partners."
