NEW YORK - The newest numbers from Nielsen Total US dollar sales data showed a continued pattern of higher-than-average grocery sales for the week ending on May 9. Instore consumer packaged goods sales (CPG) in the United States were up 19.1%, online CPG sales were up 27.2% and online food sales overall were up 57% for the week ending on May 2.
Seafood took over as the most elevated category, outpacing meat for the first time, while meat product prices continued to rise.
