Jim Buddy’s Protein Donuts, a baker of high-protein, low-calorie donuts, is entering the United States. The company said it is relocating its headquarters to Park City, Utah, from London.
“Moving to the U.S. has given us the opportunity to reformulate our donuts, modernize our packaging and relaunch the brand,” says Tom Neal, founder of Jim Buddy’s.
Neal, a fitness enthusiast and London personal trainer, created Jim Buddy’s after finding that he missed his favorite treat — a donut. He baked the first batch of donuts at home in his kitchen and now offers the high-protein, low-calorie donuts to people seeking “a happier, healthier, stronger and more productive lifestyle.”
Jim Buddy’s protein donuts contain 11 grams of protein and fewer than 160 calories. The donuts are available in two varieties: chocolate and cake batter.
The donuts are distributed in the United States by Muscle Foods, DNA Sports Nutrition, NYB and Sportlife, and in Canada by Nutrition Excellence. Tropicana Wholesale, Muscle Finesse, Profile Distribution and Protein Pick and Mix distribute the donuts abroad.
As part of the expansion into the United States, Jim Buddy’s has hired Mike Fulton as chief sales officer. In his new role Mr. Fulton will help scale U.S. operations and distribution.
Fulton has more than 25 years of experience in the health and wellness space and most recently was director of sales at Quest Nutrition.
“I’ve been in this industry for a long time, and I didn’t think I was going to be pleasantly surprised by a product, but Jim Buddy’s product, quality and mission got my attention,” Fulton says. “Discovering new products — such as protein donuts — that are going to change the industry and helping build the brand and the sales infrastructure at an early company is an exciting opportunity.”
