Lakeland, Florida-based Publix has purchased a three-parcel piece of land near downtown Nashville for $10 million, according to multiple reports.

The property, located just more than a mile south of downtown Nashville, will be home to a 39,600-square-foot, three-story building that includes two levels for parking. It would be Publix's closest location to Nashville's urban core.

The company operates more than 40 locations throughout Tennessee, which is the westernmost state to which it has expanded. In 2017, Publix began a push up the coast, into Virginia, where it now operates 16 locations. The company has more than 1,200 locations, more than two-thirds of which are in Florida.
