Bakkavor Group, an international supplier of fresh prepared foods, including bread, pizza, meals and salads, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Oct. 18 at its new baking plant in Charlotte. The facility will produce par-baked artisan bread products for Harris Teeter’s private label brand.

The multi-phased, fully integrated Design-Build upfit included mechanical, electrical and plumbing work, all production area interiors (including a separate production employee entrance and locker room) and coordination of equipment installation.

A M King supervised and implemented the site build, which began in February.

“The dynamic schedule and detailed equipment installations with vendors from numerous different countries could not have been completed without the highly involved team,” said George Lehnerer, A M King business unit leader. “The interactions with A M King, Bakkavor and all the Design-Build subcontractors on this project made it successful in all aspects.”  

Bakkavor is an international supplier of prepared foods based in the U.K. and has offices in the United States, China and Spain. It makes more than 5,500 products across 18 categories and employs more than 18,000 people in 50 operating facilities.

The company currently is focused on growing its presence within the United States by offering freshly prepared foods such as meals, salads, dips, soups and sauces.
