Target, along with its home delivery partner Shipt, is launching same-day delivery of groceries and other products on Feb. 1 to select markets across the country, the retailers announced.

Target purchased Shipt in December for $550 million.

"Our teams moved at lightning speed to get Target up and running on Shipt's platform in less than eight weeks," says Target COO John Mulligan. "We'll keep expanding."

The company says it plans to offer Shipt services at half its stores by the end of March and most of its stores by the holiday season. Birmingham, Alabama, and South Florida locations will be the first to get the options this week.
