A sustainable food packaging specialist has acquired the North American rights to a new hybrid foodservice tray.
Los Angeles-based thermoforming manufacturer PinnPACK will make and distribute DeLight Ltd.’s dual oven-safe hybrid tray, which is made from renewable paper sources and enhanced with plastic polymers.
The DeLight tray is the first Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP) paper-based tray, according to PinnPACK. The product provides better sealability and functionality than comparable pressed paperboard products and is safe for microwaves, conventional ovens and freezers.
“Beyond the fact that this expands our portfolio, allowing us the ability to become a full-spectrum provider of food packaging, we are now helping our customers differentiate themselves from the commoditized CPET (Crystallized PET) and PP (Polypropylene) trays,” says Jason Farahnik, PinnPACK division director.
PinnPACK, a subsidiary of CarbonLITE, creates packaging for the bakery and agriculture industries from post-consumer recycled PET and other materials.
