Green Bay Packers star Jordy Nelson has entered the fine cheese business.

Nelson, the Packers’ top wide receiver, has partnered with Cold Spring, Minnesota-based Stickney Hill Dairy to launch 87 Cheese, which specializes in fine goat cheeses. Packaging of the company’s 87 Chevre brand features the Packers’ green and gold color scheme. Nelson’s jersey number is 87.

Nelson has roots in agriculture, having grown up on a wheat farm in Riley, Kansas. In a promotional video on 87 Cheese’s website, Nelson cites Stickney Hills’ “world class” facility and approach to cheese-making. “You could tell that if they were going to do something, they were going to do it right,” he says. “There weren’t any corners cut.”

87 Chevre-branded cheese, which is initially being sold in Wisconsin, Kansas and Idaho, comes in a variety of flavors: plain, honey, peppercorn, tomato basil, fiesta, cranberry cinnamon, garlic herb and pumpkin spice.
