Convenience store distributor Eby-Brown Company LLC has expanded its reach with the purchase of a Pennsylvania distributor.

Naperville, Illinois-based Eby-Brown announced Oct. 23 it had reached an agreement to buy Cheswick, Pennsylvania-based AJ Silberman, which services more than 1,000 c-store customers in Maryland, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Ohio.

The purchase strengthens Eby-Brown’s presence in those states significantly, says Thomas Wake, Eby-Brown’s co-president.

“We are thrilled to welcome the customers and employees of AJ Silberman to the Eby-Brown family,” Wake says. “Eby-Brown and AJ Silberman share the cultural value of keeping the needs of the customer first and have grown customer relationships through the delivery of excellent customer service and innovation. We look forward to combining two family-owned, talented teams and are excited to work together on developing new solutions and services that benefit our customers.”

With annual revenues exceeding $5.6 billion, Eby-Brown is the largest privately-held c-store distributor in the U.S.
