Southeastern retail giant Publix is the latest grocery chain to add curbside pickup.

Two of Lakeland, Florida-based Publix’s stores in Florida — one in Wesley Chapel, one in Valrico — began offering curbside pickup on Sept. 28. The service will extend to stores in the Atlanta metro area by the end of the year.

Customers place orders on publix.com/curbside, then choose either curbside pickup or delivery at checkout.

“We’ve had great success with Publix Delivery powered by Instacart, and the demand for online grocery services has continued to grow, so we’re excited to test Publix Curbside and learn more about how to best meet the evolving needs of our customers,” says Maria Brous, Publix’s director of media and community relations.

Walmart, Kroger and Meijer are among the other grocery chains that offer curbside pickup.
