Wisconsin cheese maker Sartori Co. was awarded a grand champion award at the 2017 World Dairy Expo Championships.

Plymouth, Wisconsin-based Sartori won top honors in the cheese and butter category Aug. 22 in Madison, Wisconsin, for its Black Pepper BellaVitano cheese. The expo is sponsored by the Wisconsin Dairy Products Association.

It's only the latest in a string of wins for Sartori. Earlier in August, two of the company’s cheeses — Limited Edition Pastorale Blend and Reserve Chipotle BellaVitano — won blue ribbons as best in their classes at the Wisconsin State Fair’s Cheese & Butter Contest.

And in July, Sartori won the Reserve Supreme Champion Overseas award and the Best Cheese with Health Benefits award(for its Reserve SarVecchio Parmesan) at the International Cheese Awards in Nantwich, England.  Also at that event, three Sartori cheeses — Sartori Reserve Espresso BellaVitano, Reserve SarVecchio Parmesan and Reserve BellaVitano Gold — were awarded gold medals.
