WinCo Foods, LLC announced today that it will open its newest discount supermarket at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 9. The 78,500-sq-ft Ventura store is located at 4750 Telephone Road, which was the site of a former Mervyn's store. Though smaller than the typical WinCo Foods store, the new store will employ nearly 200 individuals, 180 of whom are newly hired from the area and will become WinCo Foods' newest employee owners.

WinCo Foods is an employee owned discount food chain known primarily for being the supermarket low price leader in each market where it operates. Store Manager, David Medina, has been with the company for 16 years and transfers to the new store from Stockton, where he was the store manager. The entire management team and crew are enthusiastic about opening a new WinCo Foods store in Ventura. Mr. Medina indicates that the community is not particularly familiar with WinCo foods, but that the excitement for the new store is building among potential customers. He looks forward to working with all of the employees to help the community get to know WinCo and to provide a great customer experience for all of our new friends. The entire WinCo Foods family looks forward to serving the community with a large selection of grocery items and our low price approach to the market.

As customers enter the new store they'll see our "Wall of Values" featuring special low pricing on a wide variety of popular items. Moving onto the main floor of the store, customers will first see the large fresh produce department, followed by the bulk foods, meat, deli/seafood, and bakery service departments. The large, unique bulk foods department displays over 700 items, including many natural food products, some organics, snacks, candies, cereals, flours, pastas, spices and more. We are excited for customers to come in to check out the new store and to continue to benefit from the everyday low pricing and quality that WinCo Foods is known for.
