Cargill purchased two case-ready meat plants in North Kingstown, R.I., and Camp Hill, Penn., from Infinity Meat Solutions, which were Ahold Delhaize USA’s subsidiaries.
The company said the plant was built to support a significant expansion in bacon production capabilities, capitalize on category leadership and increase the market for its products.
The grant was awarded to the Cooperative Development Institute (CDI) to facilitate the development of the meat brand and a halal-certified, USDA-regulated slaughter and processing facility.
JBS announced plans to not only resume its beef processing operation in Diamantino, Mato Grosso, but also to expand it to make it the largest beef plant in Latin America.
