REHOVOT, ISRAEL — Melodea Ltd., an Israel-based supplier of sustainable coating products for consumer packaged goods, has launched its latest packaging solution.

VBseal provides resistance to water vapor, oils and aromas, along with heat-sealing capabilities. The coating material is designed to replace single-use plastics in fresh food, fast food, cereal and confectionery packaging.

“Packaging producers have an urgent need for a sustainable barrier coating that has both water vapor protection and heat sealable properties and can replace the commonly used plastic PE layer,” said Cee Azerraf, vice president of sales and marketing at Melodea. “Our R&D team worked on this new product joining our existing VBcoat and, as with all of our products, it was crucial that it be recyclable and easy to apply on existing coating lines.”

In addition to the launch, Melodea has opened a pilot plant to support the sustainable packaging goals of its customers and improve development-to-market timelines. The company also invested $500,000 to improve the facility’s equipment and analytics capabilities.
