Fresh Del Monte Produce Inc.’s new Del Monte Zero pineapples are grown in Costa Rica and certified carbon neutral by third-party certification body SCS Global Services.

The pineapples have a carbon footprint net zero because the greenhouse gas emissions have been negated by the reabsorption of Fresh Del Monte-owned forests.

“Going beyond the farm to include emissions from inland and oceanic transportation, distribution and commercialization is a major step in helping the environment,” said Hans Sauter, chief sustainability office and senior vice president of R&D and agricultural services.

Ithaca Hummus

Ithaca Hummus’s latest innovation is Ithaca Squeeze, on-the-go pouches of hummus for kids. The new product comes in three flavors: Plain, Beet and Red Pepper.

“As a parent myself, I know the challenge of providing kids with nutritious foods they’ll actually want to eat,” said Chris Kirby, founder and CEO of Ithaca Hummus. “We found that one in four parents are concerned their kids aren’t getting enough protein, so we took this notion head on when creating Ithaca Squeeze, while also prioritizing the bold, delicious flavor Ithaca is known for.”

Aussie Select

Aussie Select, a brand of World Select Cuts LLC, has launched a new line of premium ready-to-eat packaged lamb products in retail delis.

The fully cooked Aussie Select line is sold in 4-ounce pre-sliced packages and comes in three varieties: Agave Rosemary Lamb Ham, Lamb Pastrami and Tikka Masala Lamb Ham.

“American consumers recognize that the provenance of Australian lamb is a marker of quality, extending from the paddock to the plate,” the company said. “With lamb making a strong showing on menus nationwide and becoming a more familiar protein in American homes, it’s an optimal time to source a premium deli meat featuring all-natural Aussie lamb.”
