Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, the global market share leader in installed retail point of sale (POS) technology, today announced that Wakefern Food Corp., the country’s largest retailer-owned cooperative, and owner of the ShopRite, Price Rite, The Fresh Grocer and Dearborn Market supermarket banners, has selected Toshiba TCx™ Care to manage and be the single point of contact for hardware support of the NCR self-checkout systems. This is in addition to Toshiba’s existing contracts to provide traditional POS systems and TCx amplify mobile solutions for Wakefern.

Effective immediately, experts from Toshiba will manage hardware support for the self-checkout areas of 129 ShopRite and The Fresh Grocer stores in the Northeastern United States, covering 665 lanes and 130 attendant stations. Toshiba will also support all self-checkout peripherals at these locations, including handheld scanners, scanner scales, receipt printers, and UPS devices, 7 days per week.

Toshiba conducts detailed and hands-on training for its dedicated staff that provide services to Wakefern, ensuring that all dedicated technicians are well equipped to maintain lanes and perform repairs in a timely and efficient manner.
