SPRINGDALE, ARK. — Poultry processor George’s Inc. expects to shutter its prepared foods facility located in Caryville, Tenn., on Sept. 2, 2022.

The plant has 200-250 workers in Campbell County according to a report from WVLT News.

George’s provided the following statement to the news station regarding the facility on June 24.

“We have made the difficult, but necessary, decision to discontinue production at the Campos Foods plant in Caryville, Tenn., effective September 2, 2022,” said Robert George, senior vice president of human resources at George’s. “We have notified the plant community, our customers and team members who are affected by this change.

Caring for our team is a value we firmly hold, and we will work closely with our impacted team members in Caryville to support them as we transition. It is important to know we considered all possible options before coming to this conclusion, and while it is disappointing, it is the appropriate long-term path for our business.”

When contacted this week, the company said it would not comment on anything further at this time.
