Kantar Worldpanel, an international consumer knowledge and insights company, says online sales of groceries have topped $48 billion worldwide.

Online sales also grew by 15 percent during the past year and now account for 4.4 percent of the market. In start contrast, total worldwide sales of fast-moving consumer goods grew just 1.6 percent in the 12 months ending in June 2016. Kantar Worldpanel projects grocery e-commerce will grow to nine percent of the market and be worth $150 billion worldwide by 2025.
