WASHINGTON — The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a public health alert for ready-to-eat ham products produced by Plumrose USA, a subsidiary of JBS SA, due to underprocessing.

The following product is affected:

  • 1-lb resealable plastic packages containing “Great Value Black Forest Ham Water Added” with a “BEST IF USED BY 07/15/22” date.

Plumrose USA produced the Black Forest Ham from April 28 through May 1, said FSIS. The product bears establishment number “EST. 26C” inside the USDA mark of inspection and was distributed to Walmart stores in Illinois, Indiana and Ohio.

According to the alert, the ham may not be fully cooked, but there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption, FSIS said. No recall was requested since it is believed the products are no longer available for purchase.
