SAN ANTONIO — With the exception of seafood, all fresh perimeter departments saw dollar sales gains in February, according to the latest monthly analysis from 210 Analytics and IRI.

Gains were highest for deli and bakery, followed by meat, whereas seafood sales continued to decrease from its 2021 record highs.

“Above average levels of inflation have put pressure on seafood keeping up the very strong demand they experienced in 2020 and 2021,” said Jonna Parker, team lead.

Total perishable sales were $24.7 billion, up 5.6% from February 2021. Meat sales were $6.4 billion, up 6.4%. Produce was $5.6 billion, up 4.6%. Deli was $3.2 billion, up 10%. Bakery was $2.9 billion, up 9.5%.

Seafood was $521 million, down 12%.
