LAUREL, MISS. – In light of weekend winter storms that resulted in snow accumulation of up to 8 inches in some parts of Texas, Sanderson Farms announced on Jan. 10 that operations at the company’s three chicken processing plants would be interrupted.

“Due to forecasted severe weather conditions, Sanderson Farms’ processing facilities in Texas will not operate on first shift on Monday, Jan. 11,” the company posted on social media. “Employees working on second and third shifts should report to work as normally scheduled tomorrow.

“At this time, all other Sanderson Farms facilities are operating as normally scheduled on Monday, Jan. 11,” the company said.

Employees were told to contact their plant’s personnel office if they had questions and to monitor local news reports for updates on weather conditions.
