ARLINGTON, VA. - The Safe Quality Food Institute (SQF) division of FMI – The Food Industry Association plans to host SQF Global, a new event that aims to unite the worldwide food safety community. SQF Global will be held online from Oct. 27-29 in multiple languages and time zones for users all over the world.

“SQF Global will gather a dynamic community of food producers, retailers, leaders and service innovators across a wide range of food safety operations and job functions, including compliance, quality, training, regulatory, audit and technical areas,” said Leslie Sarasin, FMI’s president and chief executive officer. “It’s our intention to offer a forum that fosters continued enhancement of the safety and security of the global food supply chain.”

SQF Global will run over the course of three business days to provide flexibility with multiple engagement opportunities using a collaborative, convenient technology platform. The program will include the release of SQF’s Edition 9.0 Code, designed to meet the latest GFSI benchmarking standards, to address retailer and buyer needs. All the improvements and enhancements are built to deliver a better audit experience, creating enhanced value and confidence in the SQF certificate.

“By welcoming food safety professionals from among 40 countries across multiple languages and time zones, SQF Global provides an opportunity for the food safety community to learn, collaborate, engage, and connect with peers,” said Gigi Vita, chief food safety assessment officer and senior vice president of SQF for FMI. “During COVID-19, our organization has remained focused on worker and auditor safety, supply chain, production, product quality and trust.”
