Planterra Foods, a new plant-based start-up in Colorado, is introducing its first brand to the market in April. Planterra’s OZO brand will offer a lineup of burgers, ground, Mexican-ground and Italian-style meatballs.

OZO’s four products are made with a blend of pea and rice protein fermented by shiitake mushrooms with up to 22 grams of protein per serving. Planterra says the plant-based line contains no cholesterol, and less calories, fat and saturated fat than 80% lean ground beef.

“With just one bite, we're confident that OZO™ will set a new standard of excellence," says Darcey Macken, CEO of Planterra. "We recognize there are other protein offerings out there, which is why we're adamant on having strong points of difference in our products. This category needs better tasting food from real ingredients that appeals to the whole family, and we're confident that OZO™ products deliver.”

OZO products will be packaged with recyclable trays and cartons with plant-based ink used on the packaging. The product line will range from $5.99 to $7.99.
