Kansas City grocer Price Chopper plans to spend over $54 million on two new stores and remodels of existing stores throughout 2020—an unprecedented amount of capital investments in their stores.

Efforts will focus on the expansion of the stores’ fresh departments.

“As the grocery market leader, it’s important for us to reinvest into the communities we serve,” says Brian Haaraoja, Price Chopper Enterprises’ president and CEO. “We know the impact of these investments will spur growth in new areas, while also adding to the job force.”

This year’s planned investment will bring the company’s total investments into stores over the last three years to more than $104 million. The expenses will be shared between the four local families—Ball, Cosentino, McKeever and Queen—that make up the Price Chopper group in the Greater Kansas City area.
