Cargill’s new premium beef brand Salt & Sear is headed toward retail shelves in the spring.

The premium brand will only source meat from the Upper 2/3 of USDA Choice, and certain cuts will qualify for the Certified Very Tender USDA designation. Cargill promises “quality and delicious taste” for the new brand.

Salt & Sear meets consumer priorities identified by the Cargill Future of Beef Study in 2018. The study found the majority of consumers want beef products with characteristics such as USDA Inspected and USDA Choice, and they want that information on the package.

The new brand will be featured at the Cargill booth at the NAMI Annual Meat Conference in Nashville, Tennessee, on March 3.
