Corporate Executive Chef of Grecian Delight, Chef Tom Leo, notes that its easy to put a spin on the standard sandwich by swapping boring white bread for other freshly baked goods.

“From Focaccia Flats, a thinner version of the traditional Italian bread, to Skinny Buns, a thin hamburger-style bun, there are plenty of fun ways to spice up simple sandwiches,” says Chef Leo. “Many of these alternatives also have less carbs and calories than traditional sliced bread.”

Chef Leo shares his favorite recipes for switching up sandwiches:

-          Grilled Chicken and Avocado on a Skinny Bun:  Give the hamburger a healthy makeover with Skinny Buns, a low calorie alternative free of cholesterol, saturated fat, trans fat and high fructose corn syrup. Instead of a burger, opt for grilled chicken breast and avocado for a tasty topping.

-          Whole Wheat Pita with Crudite and Creamy Feta: A pita pocket is the perfect place to store your favorite sliced crudite like carrots, celery and cucumber with a drizzle of Opaa! Brand™ Creamy Feta, a Greek yogurt-based dip.

-          Italian Herb Focaccia with Hummus and Vegetables:  This refreshing sandwich features Mediterranean vegetables like crunchy cucumber and sliced heirloom tomatoes atop a light and fluffy Italian Herb Focaccia. For an extra kick of flavor use garlic-flavored hummus as a spread.
