Westfield, Massachusetts-based C&S Wholesale Grocers has recalled ready-to-eat and other meat and poultry products over spoilage concerns.

Temperature abuse was cited by the US Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) as the cause of the spoilage concerns.

The ready-to-eat and not-ready-to-eat meat and poultry products were sold on June 17 at two Target retail stores in New York. The Target stores are located at 98 Veterans Memorial Highway in Commack, New York and 160 North Research Place in Central Islip, New York.

The problem was discovered when C&S notified FSIS that the product was held at an incorrect temperature and then inadvertently shipped into commerce.  All remaining inventory of the recalled items have been removed from the store and destroyed.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
