CHICAGO – Lightlife Foods, another player in the plant-based foods category and a Maple Leaf Foods Inc. subsidiary, announced on May 6 that the Lightlife Burger and Lightlife Ground products will be available in July at thousands of retail locations in North America. Some of the stores include Acme, Albertsons, Haggen, Pavilions, Safeway, Vons, Wegmans and many natural foods locations including Whole Foods.

The Lightlife Plant-Based Burger and Ground are made from pea protein, coconut oil and beet powder. The line is free of genetically modified ingredients, gluten, soy and artificial flavors. The burger has 20 grams of protein, 2.5 grams of saturated fat and 0 grams of cholesterol. 

“With 40 years of leadership in plant-based food innovation, we understand taste is a priority for all consumers,” said Dan Curtin, president of Lightlife Foods in January during the launch of the product. “We didn’t join the plant-based category overnight — we’ve long been pioneering the industry. Our new burger is delicious thanks to decades of culinary know-how, and we know we’ll be serving up an entirely better experience for consumers who want a break from traditional meat or whose palates are craving a new adventure. It’s not science — it’s just good food.”

Other new products including, Lightlife Plant-Based Bratwurst Sausage and Lightlife Plant-Based Italian Sausage will be in select retailers starting in May.

Lightlife also said that its burger and ground will be in 3,400 stores in Canada.
