Tops Friendly Markets is closing 10 stores as part of its bankruptcy restructuring.

All of the stores that are closing are in New York, according to a story in the Buffalo News. Williamsville, New York-based Tops operates 169 stores in New York, Vermont and Pennsylvania.

Two stores are closing in Syracuse, two in Rochester and one each in Fairport, Lyons, Geneva, Fulton, Elmira and Saranac Lake.

"There are a few stores that are not performing to our standards, due to a number of factors including location, store size, lack of visibility, and lease costs," Frank Curci, Tops' CEO, is quoted as saying in the Buffalo News story. "We are using the tools available to us through the court-supervised process to conduct an orderly wind down of these stores."
