Alan Blake has been named chief supply chain officer of meal kit company Blue Apron Holdings Inc., effective June 25. In this role, he will oversee end-to-end processes across the company’s supply chain, including sourcing, procurement, planning, manufacturing, logistics and distribution as Blue Apron “continues its multi-product, multi-channel expansion,” the company said.

Mr. Blake joins Blue Apron from Revlon, Inc, where he was most recently chief supply chain officer. Prior to Revlon, he was executive vice-president of global operations at Ventura Foods. Before that, Mr. Blake spent five years at the Campbell Soup Co., first as vice-president of North American manufacturing and later as vice-president of the North American supply chain and U.S. retail business team. He also led global production operations at Brown-Forman and worked in plant operations and distribution at Ocean Spray. Mr. Blake began his career at Procter & Gamble, where he spent 17 years in roles of increasing responsibility within supply chain and operations.

“We have made significant progress in increasing operational efficiencies throughout our fulfillment network, and operational optimization remains an ongoing strategic priority,” said Brad Dickerson, chief executive officer of Blue Apron. “Alan’s leadership and experience will be a valuable asset to the company as we continue to advance our end-to-end processes so that we can fully leverage what we expect to be significant and differentiating operational capabilities in order to capitalize on our future growth opportunities.”

Mr. Blake’s appointment follows Blue Apron’s March announcement that it would begin selling its prepared meal kits at retail – the company’s first foray beyond its subscription model.
