United Supermarkets, LLC (United) is partnering with Lubbock and Abilene area schools to host school supply drives for students in need. In each of the two cities, guests are encouraged to purchase school supplies and drop them into barrels located at the front of any location of United Supermarkets, Market Street or Amigos. Additionally, guests can make a cash donation during checkout.

“School supplies are essential to a child’s success in the classroom, and the reality is that many families are unable to purchase these items for their children,” said Shelby Crews, community relations manager for United Supermarkets, LLC. “The money and supplies we collect will help ensure children have the proper tools to learn and develop in the classroom alongside their peers.”

The Project SOS: Supply our Students in Lubbock aims to provide children of all ages with necessary school supplies, while the K Ready Kids School Supply Drive in Abilene specifically aims to provide new kindergartens with two age-appropriate books along with the necessary school supplies.

"We are thankful for the support provided by United Supermarkets and look forward to providing these donations to students who might otherwise not have school supplies,” said Dr. Berhl Robertson, Jr., superintendent for the Lubbock Independent School District. “Being well prepared for school is essential to learning and these donated supplies are an important element in student success.”

Both drives will conclude by late August.
