Premium deli meat products shipped by Santa Fe Importers Inc. to retailers in California have been recalled over fears they may be contaminated.

Plastic wrapped packages of Marisa Premium Quality Genoa Salami Italian Brand produced on Aug. 3 could be contaminated with metal shavings, the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Dec. 12.

Long Beach, California-based Santa Fe Importers recalled about 143 pounds of product, which was packed in 3.5 and 4 lb packages and bears a packaging date of Sept. 14 and a lot code of 257-100161.

The problem was discovered following a retail customer’s complaint. As of Dec. 12, no adverse reactions had been linked to the recalled product.
