Saputo Inc., parent company of Richfield, Wisconsin-based Saputo Specialty Cheese, will close a cheese manufacturing facility in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

Montreal-based Saputo Inc. is set to close the plant in May. Production there will be moved to the company’s new blue cheese facility in Almena, Wisconsin.

Costs associated with the closure will be about $22 million (Canadian), and annual savings are expected to reach $7 million in fiscal 2020.

The news came a week after Saputo Inc. announced an increase in revenues but declines in net earnings and earnings per share in the second quarter of fiscal 2018.

Saputo Specialty Cheese markets cheese under 14 brands including Saputo and Stella.
