Hy-Vee is seemingly downsizing the scope of its restaurant focus, moving a number of its full-service market Grille locations to self-service spots.

The Des Moines Register reports that Hy-Vee (based in West Des Moines, Iowa) is launching its newer Market Grille Express at several locations over the next month. At these locations, customers order and pay at a walk-up counter. The menu will be more more limited, including basics like scrambled eggs and breakfast burritos in the morning and burgers and sandwiches the rest of the day. The Register reports that the full-service bars will remain.

By the end of the year Hy-Vee expects to have 76 Market Grille Express locations in contrast to just 43 full-service Market Grille restaurants.
