Midwestern retailer Hy-Vee Food Stores Inc. is adding to its convenience store business, according to a media report.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based Hy-Vee will open three c-stores in Iowa under the Fast & Fresh banner, according to a story in the Des Moines Register.

The stores will be built in the cities of Des Moines, Altoona and Davenport, according to the stories. Construction of the Altoona store, which could include fuel pumps, a Starbucks drive-thru, groceries and a place to pick up online grocery orders, could begin this year. The Des Moines store could be 12,000 to 16,000 square feet.

The Davenport store could open before the Altoona store, according to the story.  Hy-Vee is looking at building additional Fast & Fresh stores in West Des Moines and other cities.
