Sendik's will give Marquette University its first campus grocery store when it opens a planned small format store later this year.

The Milwaukee-area grocer's new location will be similar to its Sendik's Fresh2Go concepts, only tailored to a college campus community. It will feature healthy snacks, single-serve meals and fresh produce and will offer online ordering service. The store will employ around 20 people, including students in part-time roles.

"This exciting collaboration is about two longtime Milwaukee institutions that share a combined vision of innovation and growth, both of which are reflected in this unique store and partnership," said Ted Balistreri, co-owner of Sendik's.

Construction is expected to begin soon with the store opening during the 2017-18 academic year.
