McLane Co. Inc., a leading supplier of foodservice products and other foods to convenience stores and other channels, has upgraded its quality assurance program with new software.

Temple, Texas-based McLane, which supplies foodservice and grocery supply chain solutions for convenience stores, mass merchants, drug stores and chain restaurants throughout the United States, will use software from Salt Lake City-based RizePoint to streamline its quality assurance inspection process.

"McLane's success is rooted in a robust quality assurance program," Sam Richardson, McLane’s director of food safety, says in a news release. "With RizePoint, we will streamline our audits, ensure visibility of all inspection data, and—most importantly—we'll be able to automate corrective action across locations. By streamlining our compliance efforts we'll protect our industry-leading food safety reputation."

In RizePoint’s end-to-end system for on-site inspections, data is immediately uploaded and analyzed for to meet safety regulations, manage quality standards and ensure proper employee training.

McLane, a wholly owned unit of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., operates more than 80 distribution centers across the U.S. and one of the nation's largest private fleets. The company buys, sells and delivers more than 50,000 different consumer products to nearly 110,000 locations across the U.S.
