CRANBURY, NJ. — With the recent color bans in formulations, Innophos is following suit to reassure consumers’ concerns with the launch of VersaCal Bright calcium phosphate.
VersaCal Bright, which has been approved for use in donut sugar, sugar for coated candies, white candy melts and ready-to-eat chicken products, may be used as a clean label whitening alternative to titanium dioxide.
The product also may add essential nutrients, including calcium and phosphorous.
The US Food and Drug Administration recently approved the company’s petition to use calcium phosphate as a safe color additive in specific food categories, according to the company.
